New Zealand and Wales have met four times in JWC history, the Baby Blacks winning the first three comfortably until Wales ripped up the form book to win 9-6 and condemn New Zealand to a first ever JWC defeat. The first meeting between Wales and New Zealand on the JWC stage was the 2008 semi finals, when the Baby Blacks won 31-6.

France and Australia meet for the second match day in a row, with the French having won 31-7 to finish second in Pool C. Australia had won two of three previous meetings, the exception being the Pool B decider at JWC 2011 when France won 31-25.

Samoa are the only side yet to cross the try-line at JWC 2012. Going into match day four they had conceded the most tries with 24 in defeats by New Zealand, Fiji and Wales.

Fiji and Samoa have met twice before in JWC history. Fiji winning both, scoring 15 points each time. The most recent meeting was in round two with Fiji running out 15-3 winners over their fellow islanders. The loser of this match will face Italy - who just lost 34-17 to Scotland at UWC - in the battle to avoid relegation to the IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy in 2013.

Commentator Nigel Starmer-Smith tells us that Newlands is the third oldest Test rugby ground in the world, having hosted its first Test back in 1891 when South Africa faced the touring British Isles. The first game at Newlands though was a year earlier when Stellenbosch played Villagers.

Scotland captain Harry Leonard on beating Italy to guarantee a top 10 finish at JWC 2012: "We are really chuffed about today's game. We really stuck it out especially our forwards. They really won us the game today."
