Samoa Under 20 head coach Sogi Vincent Meleisea has named a 33-man training squad for the inaugural IRB Junior World Championship, which takes place across four venues in Wales from 6-22 June.
Nearly half of the players selected were involved in Samoa’s challenge at the IRB Under 19 World Championship 2007 in Northern Ireland when they finished seventh in Division A after edging Argentina 13-12 on the final day.
The players that fall under this category include Afa Aioni – who has been already been named as captain – and his back row colleagues Richard Muagututia, Ikoke Solomona and Misioka Timoteo.
Samoa will open their IRB Junior World Championship campaign against Scotland at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham, the same venue where they will meet their other Pool B opponents USA and South Africa.
