A New Zealand player appeals the sanction he received at the IRB Junior World Championship 2013 in France.
Hadleigh May (New Zealand)
New Zealand player Hadleigh May appeared before independent Appeal Officer, Simon Thomas (Wales), in Nantes on Friday 21 June, to appeal the finding by the Judicial Officer Antony Davies that he had been guilty of an act contrary to good sportsmanship, namely contact with the eye or eye area, contrary to Law 10.4(m) of the Laws of the Game in his side's IRB Junior World Championship match against Ireland, played at Stade de la Rabine in Vannes on 13 June.
The Appeal Officer concluded, having heard from the player and his representatives that the decision of the Judicial Officer was not in error and therefore should not be overturned. Accordingly, the player will miss the remaining match of the tournament and is further suspended from 9 August to 13 September 2013 inclusive. He is free to play on or after 14 September 2013.
The full written decision will follow.
