Having refereed theJWRT 2012 final, Romanian Vlad Iordachescu is part of a strong team for Hong Kong

The International Rugby Board has appointed a strong panel of referees and assistant referees for the IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy 2014, which will take place in Hong Kong from 7-19 April.

Romanian Vlad Iordachescu, who refereed the final of the 2012 tournament in Salt Lake City, Utah, returns to the squad, where he will be joined by other emerging match officials from Brazil, Wales and Samoa.

The UAE provides two officials on the panel of ARs with USA, Kenya and Hong Kong sending one each. The group will be overseen by IRB Referee Development Consultant Bernd Gabbei and will receive the benefit of performance reviews, coaching and in-depth video analysis to assist in their development as elite match officials.

IRB High Performance Match Official Manager Joel Jutge said: “The IRB and its Member Unions invest considerable resources in developing the next generation of international match officials. The IRB Junior World Rugby Trophy provides a key platform for leading match officials from across the world to test themselves at elite tournament level."

Assistant referees: Derek Summers (USA), Victor Oduor Ojuku (Kenya), Norman Drake (UAE), Chris Linwood (UAE), Patrick Kwok (Hong Kong)

Performance reviewers: Carlos Molinari (Argentina) and Takashi Harada (Japan)
