Polytan|STI new IRB Preferred Turf Producer

The International Rugby Board’s One Turf programme has been further boosted by the appointment of leading specialist Polytan|STI as an IRB Preferred Turf Producer.
The world-renowned German-based company with significant manufacturing plants in the US, Australia and Germany, has been manufacturing and installing sports surfaces worldwide since 1969 and joins the IRB Preferred Turf Producer programme having achieved the Governing body’s robust player welfare, technical and performance criteria.
Launched in March 2011, IRB Preferred Turf Producer programme aims to benefit the Game worldwide by providing a regulated one-stop solution for organisations seeking to install artificial surfaces.
The landmark programme represents the first time the same Producer will be able to produce, install and maintain IRB Regulation 22 compliant surfaces, opening the way for elite and community level matches to be played on artificial surfaces and promoting player welfare best-practice.
Speaking at Rugby EXPO 2011 in London, IRB Head of Technical Services Steve Griffiths said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Polytan|STI to the growing inventory of world class IRB Preferred Turf Producers who will oversee the production, installation and maintenance of artificial surfaces for the Rugby community.”
“Polytan|STI is a company synonymous with excellence in sports surface performance and we are looking forward to working with them to develop the very best surfaces for players of all ages and abilities to enjoy Rugby, whatever the conditions.”
“The selection of Preferred Turf Producers through the One Turf programme provides our Member Unions, clubs and owners of facilities with an assurance that if they choose these manufacturers they will be getting the best quality of product and service in the Rugby turf market place.”
Managing Director of STI, Stephen Niven said “The philosophy of the IRB Preferred Turf Producer programme fits well with Polytan|STI’s own quality performance policies.  Through all our processes, R&D, manufacturing, design, project construction and continuing care the synergies with the One Turf programme and our multi-football code surfaces are immense.  We are honoured to be part of the programme and are excited about working with the IRB in the development of synthetic surfaces for a game that many of the team at Polytan|STI take great personal pleasure in.”
Polytan|STI joins leading turf specialists Limonta Sport (Italy), Greenfields B.V (Netherlands), Mondo S.P.A (Italy), FieldTurf Tarkett (USA) and SIS/TEAM (UK/Ireland/Australia) in demonstrating that they have the capability to manage the total process of Rugby turf installation from design through manufacture, installation and maintenance programmes.
