The International Rugby Board’s One Turf programme has been further boosted by the appointment of leading specialist Edel Grass B.V. as one of the IRB Preferred Turf Producers.
The world-renowned Dutch-based company, with more than 30 years of experience in the artificial turf industry, joins the IRB Preferred Turf Producer Programme having met the governing body’s robust player welfare, technical and performance criteria.
Launched in December 2010, the programme is benefiting the global Game by providing a regulated one-stop solution for organisations seeking to install artificial surfaces.
The landmark programme means that the same producer will be able to manufacture, install and maintain IRB Regulation 22 compliant surfaces, opening the way for elite and community level matches to be played on artificial surfaces and promoting player welfare best practice.
IRB Head of Technical Services Steve Griffiths said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Edel Grass to the growing inventory of world-class IRB Preferred Turf Producers who oversee the production, installation and maintenance of artificial surfaces for the Rugby community. We are looking forward to working with them to develop the very best surfaces for players of all ages and abilities to enjoy Rugby safely, whatever the conditions.
“The selection of Preferred Turf Producers through the One Turf programme provides IRB Member Unions, clubs and owners of facilities with an assurance that if they choose these manufacturers they will receive the highest quality of product and service available.”
Commercial Director of Edel Grass Bas van den Berg said: “Edel Grass is delighted to be a part of the IRB Preferred Turf Producer programme and is very excited about cooperating with the IRB in developing the Player Welfare philosophy through high quality artificial surface installations for the ever expanding game of Rugby. The IRB brand is a well known brand in the global Rugby market, which gives us the opportunity to gain a better position within the sport."
"We are convinced that this collaboration will assist in providing a great service to the Game through our vast amount of research and experience in the field of artificial turf. By demonstrating our expertise in the development of artificial grass rugby surfaces, civil engineering, project management and maintenance, we aim to contribute in raising the quality of Rugby turf worldwide."
Edel Grass B.V. joins leading turf specialists Limonta Sport, Greenfields B.V., Mondo S.P.A, FieldTurf Tarkett EMEA, USA and AsiaPacific, SIS and Polytan|STI in demonstrating that they have the capability to manage the total process of Rugby turf installation from design through manufacture, installation and maintenance programmes.
