The victory - the first in five meetings with the Czech Republic - lifts Belgium above Tunisia and to within three tenths of Brazil above them. It also takes them to second place in Division 2A behind already confirmed champions Ukraine.

Belgium had to come from behind to seal the historic win, replacement prop Norman Wende scoring a try to tie the match at 16-16 before fly half Alan Williams kicked the winning drop goal three minutes from time.

The defeat sees the Czech Republic remain fourth in Division 2A and also fall two places in the IRB World Rankings to 35th, dropping them below the Netherlands and Poland to within half a point of Paraguay.
