Moldova rise one in ranking as Germany fall
Moldova have beaten both the Czech Republic and Germany in last fortnight

Moldova have returned to the top 30 in the latest IRB World Rankings for the first time in three years after overcoming Germany 28-15 in their European Nations Cup 2012 encounter in Chisinau on Saturday.

The victory lifts Moldova one place into 29th, at the expense of the Czech Republic, and also to the top of the Division 1B standings as they approach the halfway stage of the competition spanning two years.

Germany’s fourth loss in five European Nations Cup matches sees them fall another place to 36th with Tunisia the beneficiaries, meaning they have now slipped six places in the last two months and facing an uphill task if they are to bounce back to the top tier after relegation last year.

There was one other European Nations Cup encounter over the weekend, but Greece’s 30-18 victory over 93rd ranked Luxembourg in Division 2D did not count towards the IRB World Rankings as the winners are not yet a Full Member Union of the International Rugby Board and therefore not ranked.
