China beat Guam in the HSBC Asian Five Nations to win promotion to division two in 2012, and also rose two places to 63rd in the IRB World Rankings. Guam fell four places to 86th.
In the other match in the tournament's final stages, Indonesia edged Pakistan to claim third place.
In Africa, Zimbabwe maintained their impressive string of results with a 42-24 victory over higher-ranked Kenya in the Victoria Cup, an annual tournament staged between Zimbabwe, Kenya and Uganda.
Zimbabwe currently sit top of the Victoria Cup standings, having beaten both of their rivals over the first two match days.
Having risen to a record high in the world list over the last two weeks, the Zimbabweans' latest victory consolidated their 40th position and helped them to close significantly on the Kenyans and Sweden just above them.
Elsewhere in Africa, in the CAR Africa Cup competition played in Cameroon, two wins for Senegal - against Botswana and hosts Cameroon - took them up six places to 50th in the world list.
Cameroon registered one victory against Zambia and remain in 78th place, while Botswana fell four to 83rd, having also lost against Zambia.
In the North American and Caribbean region, Bermuda's 11-0 away win against Guyana helped them up four places to 47th in the IRB World Rankings.
