Uruguay have inched slightly closer to Russia in the latest IRB World Rankings after drawing the first leg of their Rugby World Cup 2015 qualifier with USA in Montevideo on Saturday.
Los Teros remain 20th after the 27-27 draw against an American side two places above them, but have reduced the deficit to Russia by just over three tenths.
Despite the draw, the USA Eagles still have a healthy cushion of more than four rating points over Russia. However, this would have been less had Uruguay fly half Felipe Berchesi not seen his conversion drift agonisingly wide with the scores locked at 27-27.

The sides meet again at the Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Atlanta this weekend with the winner qualifying for England 2015 as Americas 2 and joining South Africa, Samoa, Scotland and the Asia 1 qualifier in Pool B.
The RWC 2015 dream will not be over for the loser, though, as they will enter the Repechage for the chance to secure the 20th and final place available at rugby’s showpiece event.
