Emirates has a strong affinity with rugby and this was demonstrated when it widened its sponsorship of the sport to become the Principal Partner of the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2009. Emirates is proud to be involved in such an important world-class event.

The partnership with the Rugby World Cup Sevens follows a long-standing and successful relationship with the Dubai Rugby Sevens which Emirates has been the proud title sponsor of since 1998.

The award-winning event plays a vital part of the airline's extensive sports sponsorship portfolio of global events.

In addition to the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens, the opening tournament of the IRB Sevens Series, Emirates also sponsors the South African Sevens, the London Sevens and the Edinburgh Sevens; as well as being the shirt sponsors of the England and Samoa Sevens teams. In Australia, Emirates is a major sponsor of the Emirates Western Force.

Emirates is the official sponsor of the IRB international referees, which sees match officials wearing Emirates-branded kit in all international and other IRB tournaments.

Emirates has been committed to sports sponsorship for twenty years and in addition to rugby, its portfolio includes football, as an Official Partner of FIFA and through the sponsorship of Arsenal and their home ground, the Emirates Stadium; Hamburg SV, Paris Saint Germain and AC Milan.

Emirates is the Official Airline of 10 major golf tournaments from Dubai to China and Germany to Malaysia. In Cricket, Emirates is an Official Partner of the ICC with the rights to all ICC major tournaments including the 2011 and 2015 ICC Cricket World Cups, ICC Champions Trophy, ICC World Twenty20, ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier, ICC Under-19 World Cup, ICC Intercontinental Cup and the ICC Women's World Cup.

Through the partnership with the ICC, Emirates will continue its sponsorship of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires and Referees; with the Fly Emirates logo being displayed prominently on the umpires' clothing at all ICC events until 2015.
