But as we prepare for a new decade in the sport, there are positives to look forward to and questions to ponder in equal measure. Who better to ask than the man at the top of the IRB, Mike Miller.

RUGBY WORLD CUP 2011
Central to the game's global growth is the Rugby World Cup and next year - yes it's that close - the eighth World Cup kicks off in New Zealand - a sobering thought for the man with the responsibility for making it happen, Kit McConnell.

DAN LYLE: USA SEVENS, LAS VEGAS
The draw was recently announced for next month's USA Sevens in Las Vegas, allowing the organisers to step up preparations for what is sure to be an unforgettable couple of days in one of the world's foremost party capitals. We speak with Dan Lyle, the Tournament Director.

PAUL DELPORT: ROAD TO RECOVERY
One man not on the plane for the next two legs of the Sevens World Series is South Africa's captain Paul Delport. Cruelly, he ruptured ankle ligaments on home soil in December, but you can count on him returning. If nothing else, the past three years have taught him perseverance and staying power.
